Carers Australia and Amcal are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of carers.
Anyone at any time can become a carer and National Carers Week 2018 (14 - 20 October) is a time to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contribution that Australia’s 2.7 million unpaid carers make to our nation.
Click the link to visit the website and show your support for a carer-friendly Australia. By doing so, you can help Carer’s Australia demonstrate the considerable community support for Australia’s carers.
Most carers perform the role in an unpaid capacity and, as such, don’t have much time to think about their own wellbeing. While carers are responsible for a range of day-to-day support activities for others, including the management of medications and providing physical, emotional, social or financial support, they often neglect to give themselves the same level of care. Amcal want to encourage carers - and people who know a carer – to realise the importance of taking proactive steps towards maintaining their own health for their own benefit, as well as that of the person they care for. Below is a list of services Amcal offers you might find helpful.
Amcal Health Services
Your Amcal pharmacist can work with you and your doctor to pack your medicines into an easy-to-use weekly pack. This can help you better understand your medicines and give you more confidence that you are taking the right medicine at the right time. Using a medicine organiser to help you take your medicine as directed helps you get better results from your treatment.

At Amcal we can store your prescriptions for your convenience so they are all in one spot. The next time you need your prescription prepared, simply call your local Amcal Pharmacy.
The Amcal medication review involves meeting with your pharmacist as part of a one-on-one consultation to discuss your medicines and answer any questions you may have. The medicine review is a government supported program. By working together, you, your Amcal pharmacist and your doctor can develop the best medicine strategy to help you get the best result from your treatment.
Return of Unwanted Medicines
Having old and unused medicines at home may pose a risk to young children, our pets or others in the house. Medicines should not be disposed of with general rubbish. It’s also harmful for the environment to dispose down a drain. Your local Amcal pharmacy provides for the safe disposal of unwanted medicines free of charge.
