1937

On the 13th July 1937 Allied Master Chemists of Australia Limited (Amcal) was founded by Major General C. H. Simpson. Thus commenced a movement that was to greatly influence pharmacy in Australia. The founding group consisted of 11 pharmacists who saw the value in joining together to maximise buying so as to offer competitive prices and better product ranges to its customers.

The launch of Amcal to consumers was a first, including personal letters to each household, window posters, a giveaway of a tablet of soap and a brochure was "Why this is an Amcal Pharmacy".

Weekly specials commenced, available only on Fridays and Saturdays, including products such as Potter and Moore Face Powder at 6d.

Amcal Tea Buds were launched and sold at 1shilling and nine pence.
